Snapping an object to another object that's not on the grid

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to create a text-based logo and I'm using the rectangle tool to place a horizontal bar over the text (currently converted to a curve). To cut out a horizontal line on the 'T' I'm tying to use the subtract tool, however the 'T' isn't on the grid and trying to align the red rectangle perfectly to the bottom edge of the 'T' seems impossible. As it doesn't snap I can't get a clean cutout. Please see screenshots and if anyone could help I would greatly appreciated it.

Hi @willowen100,

Another option would be to 'Break' the letter 'T' in two, allowing the red bar to snap directly to the underside of the horizontal rectangle and then rejoin the two sections of the letter 'T'...
