How do I put text outside a curve, with the curve above it?

I think the video is pretty self-explanatory, but I can't figure out how to get the text going forward but below the path. Any insight appreciated.

While the Artistic Text Tool is selected, the Baseline Shift is available on the context toolbar. It's set to zero by default. Setting it to 100% moved the text below the ellipse without turning it upside down.
