design punch
Win 10, V 2.5.3 One small thing here! Steps: 1. create a new document (with master page), create paragraph formats ‘X1’ and ‘X2’ and apply them to a text (e.g. as headings) 2. create a text frame on the master page and insert the field ‘Running header' 3. enter the paragraph format ‘X1’ in the Fields panel under 'Running header' - text from ‘X1’ appears on the text page as "the running header text" (as it should) If you now simply change the paragraph format in the Fields panel under ‘Running header, e.g. from ‘X1’ to ‘X2’, nothing happens in the text - ‘X1’-text is still displayed! You must first return to the master page and select (highlight) the ‘Running header’ field. Only then can you change the paragraph format (e.g. ‘X2’) so that it appears on the text page. The question is: Why the diversions? If you do the same with the ‘Theme’ field, for example, this procedure is not necessary. You simply change the text in the ‘Theme’ field and the changed text appears immediately on the text pages. You do not have to search for and select (highlight) the ‘Theme’ field before the changed text appears.

The question is: Why the diversions? Hi, this isn't a bug, just a somewhat confusing design. When you change the Running Header options in the Fields panel without a selected field, you are changing the default for the next running header field you create instead of the properties of the selected field. The popup title will be named Running Header Defaults if there isn't a selected field and Running Header Settings if there is a selected field.
