Can't rename purchased brush categories

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I can't find any posts/information on this specific problem and it has bothered me for some time, so here goes:

In the brushes panel drop-down (Designer Windows V2), I can rename brush categories to organise them except those I have purchased from Serif (they have a shopping bag icon). It means they are determining how my brushes are organised but I'd rather do that myself.

I know I can create a new category and move brushes, but that is a lot of time when it doesn't need to be.

Pre-packaged brushes, home-made brushes and brushes purchased elsewhere can all be renamed, but why not those purchased from Serif? Is it because of sync'ing. Am I missing something?

I don't purchase from Serif any more for this reason alone.

Is there a way to solve this annoying little problem?

Many thanks,

Phil

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

I had seen this post, but it was about renaming brushes, rather than categories. However, the same work around does solve the problem - it is the sync'ing that causes the issue.

If you download from Serif and install 'manually' you can rename the brush category (as well as each brush name).

If you sync it, you have to retain the original name (presumably the name retains the link for future sync'ing).

Anyway, problem solved!

Thanks so much,

Phil
