Photo and Designer Crashes on Windows 11

Recommended Posts

I have tried all of the recommended changes to fix the issue and nothing is working.

Disabled Hardware acceleration -

Renamed User Profile and App Folder -

Checked for Display Driver Update -

Checked for Windows 11 Updates -

The programs will open but the moment I open any file they crash immediately.

Windows - Version 2.5.3

This update fixed the Driver issue:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/785597/intel-arc-iris-xe-graphics-windows.html

I had to Google the actual build of my current driver (which Windows 11 said was the most current) to find there are issues with this driver.  This post pointed to the driver updated listed above:

https://community.intel.com/t5/Graphics/Graphic-driver-31-0-101-5186/td-p/1584519

Hope this helps someone else!

From your second post it sounds like you trusted Windows Update for that?

There's a FAQ, which directs users to the manufacturer's websites, probably just for that reason :)

Happy to hear you got it updated and working.

EDIT: I've installed Beta 2.5.5.2316 and can create and open files as expected.

Having the same issue, Fresh Windows 11 install on Lenovo Yoga C930 Laptop with Intel UHD 620, All windows updates installed, Intel drivers updated from Intel's site.  Designer and Photo (edit, spelling) open (both fresh installs on this new OS install, both 2.5.3).  With and without HW Acceleration enabled, same result.

Can you describe what happens in more detail?
