Text background no longer transparent

I have produced my newsletter several times in the past without a problem.  I copy text from a Word File and paste it into a text frame in my APub2 document.  Today the background behind the text is no longer transparent but pale blue.

I've tried placing the text;

I've resaved the Word file as a docx file rather than the doc version which I received;

I've resaved the Word file as text only;

When it is exported as a pdf the blue background is still there, but only behind the text. 

I do have a master page but that is simply for the columns and margins.

I've searched on here for 'text background' and also in the help section but have come up with no assistance.

Please can someone put me out of my misery.

Hi @ChrisAnn and welcome to the forums,

Open the Text Frame Panel by clicking the icon in the context toolbar or selecting it from the Window > Text menu. With the text frame/s selected change the fill colour to none...

Bless you Hangman.  It is so simple when you know how.  Thanks so much.  (I can now feed my husband his tea, which means he thanks you too!)  Thanks also for showing me what to do, I am still finding my way around Publisher having emigrated from a very very early InDesign program.
