This started with the 2.5.3 update, I've updated everything else that can be updated and it still happens.

Every time I try to 'place' a word file with more than one word in it the program crashes. I haven't found any other file type that makes it crash.

Turning off hardware acceleration also did not help

Hi @jaserp and welcome to the forums,

Your .docx file may crash when placed in Publisher owing to a known bug logged under AF-3755 and AF3756...

If the text in your Word file uses a text style based on another style, this can cause the crash...

Setting the text style used to be based on (no style) should allow the file to be placed within Publisher as expected.

If that doesn't work could you upload a sample Word file so we can look at other possible causes for the crash?

That fixes it for me, thank you!

No problem glad that fixed the problem, hopefully, we'll see a fix in the 2.6 Beta cycle...
