Request for GNU/Linux version of Affinity Designer

Recommended Posts

Sir/Ma'am,

It has been over twenty years since I gave up on Windows. After WIndows I moved to MacOS. After a decade and a dozen Apple machines, all of which became obsolete in about three years, I gave up on Apple as well because they started acting just like Microsoft. For the last decade I have been using GNU/Linux distributions for all my development work. I have used 386bsd, Scientific Linux, Cent-OS, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Suse Linux, Unbreakable Linux, Ubuntu, and Linux Mint.

For the last four years I been using Ubuntu Linux, both for my employer's projects, and all my work at home.

Truth be told, I am getting a little bored with Ubuntu and their direction (snaps).

The point I am trying to make is that my use of Linux is not a fluke. It is my committed platform for all uses. I have been using Unix since Version 7.

Unfortunately there are some things I can't do yet on Linux. Running Adobe products for instance. And apparently your software neither.

I believe Linux is here to stay, and it is being used widely by professional knowledge worker and content creators, as evidenced by the existence of Digital Audio Workstation software for Linux. I believe you would have significant sales activity for Linux versions of your products. Your software was recommended highly in some Youtube videos, and I was initially optimistic until I arrived at your web site and discovered you were only supporting the proprietary, closed-source operating systems.

Please give consideration to supporting the Linux platform.

Thanks for your post @Ichibrosan and welcome to the Affinity forums :)

There are many existing threads here on the forums regarding Linux support and I understand that at this time, our position has not changed on supporting this OS.

We ask for any Affinity on Linux discussions to continue in these previous threads, rather than continuing in new ones, such as the following -

Many thanks for your understanding :)
