lweissbe Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 I'm currently creating a document consisting out of multiple PDF documents, which needs to be numbered with roman numbers. However on some pages the numbers don't appear and i have no idea why. Its not that the pages aren't counted its just that the numbers dont appear on the page. They stop appearing on page 17 and than appear again on page 30. I'll attach a screenshot, maybe you guys can see something on there. Quote
MikeTO Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 Is the page number field on a master page? If so, have you applied the master page to every page? You can hover over the page thumbnails in the Pages panel and Publisher will show a tooltip stating which master page(s) are applied. you can also see the master pages in the Layers panel. If the master page isn't applied, right-click the page thumbnail and apply the master page. One other thing that happens is if you make the text frame for the page number too narrow then page "xvi" might fix but "xvii" might not. Good luck. lweissbe Posted June 16, 2024 Author Posted June 16, 2024 The master page is applied to every page and the text frame can't be too narrow either. The document is pretty long and the last page is cxxxviii. Its so weird... Quote
MikeTO Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 I suggest turning on View > Show Text Flow so you can see the outline of all text frames. Is there a frame on the page? If you zoom in, are the text flow controls blue or red, with red meaning there isn't enough space to show all the text. If you zoom out, is there a text frame off the page - you'd see the blue outline to the left or right of the page if it wasn't in the right place. If you re-apply the master to the page, does that fix it? thomaso Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 Does page 17 show the page number text frame in the Layers Panel? If a PDF page includes a white rectangle you would need to move the master page layers on these document pages to the front (= up in the Layers Panel hierarchy): "Edit linked" -> menu 'Layer' > Arrange > "Move to Front". lweissbe Posted June 17, 2024 Author Posted June 17, 2024 (edited) I have no idea why it only was only a problem on the pages 17-30 or why it was a problem at all but there was actually a white rectangle on these pages that covered the page number since their layer was 1 above. Thank you guys for your help! Edited June 17, 2024 by lweissbe unneccessary Quote

When only the visual layout objects get exported the page (paper, sheet) is not exported while a white rectangle gets created when also the page gets exported as object. The reason why this rectangle covers/hides the page number in APub is the layer hierarchy: the page number is placed with its master page layer at the bottom of the layers panel of every document page, as master page layers by default always get placed at the bottom of the layer hierarchy in Apub. lweissbe 1 Quote • MacBookPro Retina 15" | macOS 10.14.6 | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1 • iPad 10.Gen. | iOS 18.5. | Affinity V2.6
