An error occurs while loading a file, and an alert message appears saying "The document appears to be corrupted. You must close the document." and the file cannot be opened. Is there a way to fix this? I'm in trouble.

Welcome to the Affinity forums, @m_a_yu. Sorry to hear you're having this problem. Sometimes documents can be recovered, but often not, and a backup copy sometimes must be used (or the document recreated).

What kind of document has the problem, and which application are you using?

Where is the document located? In Finder, what do you see for the file size?

Thank you for your comment.
The file is Affinity Designer Document - 316.4 MB. In finder I can see a preview of the design in the document.
The data opens for only a moment, and then an alert immediately appears and I'm forced to close it.

I have the exact same error
A 2.5 days job just went down with this damn error. Now what? The file is and always been in the hard drive.

Same questions for you, Carla: What application are you using, what kind of file, what is the file size, etc. We can't help without having details.

@m_a_yu: If it's a file you can share publicly you could upload it here and we can try to help. If not, you may need to wait for an Affinity staff member.

You could try creating a new document, and using File > Place to add your .afdesign document to it. Sometimes that works.

After adding the document with "Place", I can now access the data that I couldn't open!It looks like I can just extract the data from here and create a new document.

This was very helpful! Thank you!
