Pix Images Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 One of my favourite tools .. used the normal way in ver 2.5 now removes the selected area and replaces it with solid black instead of the selected replacement area. Help please 🙂 Cheers Chris Quote
GarryP Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 Can you record and share a video which shows us how the Patch Tool is being “used the normal way”? Quote
Pix Images Posted May 29, 2024 Author Posted May 29, 2024 On playing with it a bit more, it seems to be related to the size of the patch.. never used to be a problem. Cheers Chris patch error.mp4 Quote
GarryP Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Thanks for the video. I can’t see anything obvious that should be causing this. Have you been able to replicate the problem with a different image? Are there any other layers in the document? (It’s often useful if we can see the Layers Panel in a video/screenshot.) Would you be able to share the original image so other people can test it? (ZIP the image first so we get the exact same file.) Quote
Pix Images Posted May 30, 2024 Author Posted May 30, 2024 I've tried this with a couple of other images and can't get it to do it again! murphys law! here's the original image un touched. I've been cleaning it up for a museum. Cheers Chris The NSBC Bus fleet at Bayswater wharf. OP302.zip Quote
GarryP Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Thanks for sharing the file. I tried to replicate the problem but haven’t been able to do so yet. Hopefully it doesn’t happen again and was ‘just one of those things’. Quote
Dan C Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Thanks for your post & file @Pix Images - I too have been testing this tool in AP 2.5 and I'm yet to see this issue occur. However I note in your recording that you have a .jpg file open for editing, though the file you've attached here is a .tif file. If you open the same .jpg file, are you able to replicate this again? What is the Colour Space / Profile assigned to the image under Document > Convert Format / ICC Profile... ? Are any other layers present in your file when using the Patch Tool? Under Edit > Settings > Performance, do you have Hardware Acceleration enabled? Many thanks in advance Please see below! Quote
Dan C Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Apologies, I've just tested using your file again on a different Windows system and I've now been able to replicate this issue! I can confirm this appears to occur when using the Grey/8 or Grey/16 Colour Space & Hardware Acceleration enabled, with the Patch Tool. Either converting the image to a different Colour Space, such as RGB/8, or disabling Hardware Acceleration should stop this occurring for you - 2024-05-31 10-27-33.mp4 In the meantime, I'll be logging this as a bug with our development team, I hope this helps Quote
