leefranklin Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 I wonder if anyone is experiencing this; perhaps a day after I installed the Designer v 2.5 updates I noticed my files have the Photo logo attached to them. If I open up Designer and click file, then "open" it's ok. But if I search for a file in file explorer (Windows 10) and click on the file it will open in Photo. walt.farrell Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 Welcome to the Affinity forums. That is basically how Windows works. Each application can tell Windows which file-types it is prepared to open. With the Affinity applications, any of the three applications can open all the files. When multiple applications can handle a particular kind of file, Windows simply picks one to assign as the icon and as the Type, and will use that application if you say "open this file" from outside any application. (I think Windows picks the last application you installed that has said it can handle that file.) You can tell Windows to use a specific application by setting a default application for that file type extension. Or you can right-click (or Shift+right-click) and choose Open With and pick the application you want. Or you can open from within the application, as you have found. leefranklin Posted May 27, 2024 Author Posted May 27, 2024 Oh, thank you very much. That was an easy fix. I went to default files in Windows - default apps by file type- afdesigner. Quote
