Hi, I'm running the Affinity apps version 2.4.2 and over the past few months have had an increasingly difficult time with the print menus. Initially the print dialogue was taking ages to show, and would sometimes take three or four attempts to show the full range of print options available to me.

Today, however, when I go to file > Print there is no response at all.

Where I would expect a print dialog box to appear, it just returns to my image as if I had never attempted to print in the first place. The same happens with the print shortcut, command + P. This is happening across all of the Affinity apps but not my other Mac apps.

I am on Mac OS 14.3, Sonoma.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Affinity Apps in sheer frustration, rebooted the Mac, done everything else I can think of and can't find any hints anywhere as to what this might be due to.

Hi Odd Mimic,

Please could you try uninstalling and reinstalling your printer as this typically solves this issue.

Thanks

Hi Callum, it did not I’m afraid (that was something I had tried earlier, and I also have three printers and it would print to none of them).

I managed to find something elsewhere that suggests that if the Mac is set to use an Epson printer as the default then Affinity apps do not display the print dialogue.

My Mac was not set to Epson, but to last used printer. However, the last used printer WAS an Epson, and changing the default to my HP laser fixed the issue immediately. Changing the setting to the Epson does indeed break the print dialogue across all the Affinity apps but nowhere else in the Mac. So essentially there’s a bit of a ‘fix’ in place, but does seem to be a bug.
