William Medeiros Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Hello. I need help urgently. Today was the second time. I lost a complete file and I no longer have a deadline to deliver it to the client. I had saved and reopened the file several times previously, but when I opened it again today, the error message appeared and I can no longer edit the file. What could I do to recover at least part of it? Help me please. CARDS.afdesign Quote
GarryP Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 I get the same messages when trying to open the document in 2.4.2. It looks to have loaded correctly – as far as I can tell – right up to the end where it fails somehow. Screenshot showing English messages is attached. Quote
GarryP Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 I could, however, add the Artboards from the document into a Publisher document, as attached. Maybe you can recover something from that. cards-recovered-in-publisher.afpub Dan C 1 Quote
Dan C Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 Sorry to hear you're having trouble @William Medeiros! Hopefully you are able to use the above document to recover the contents of your file, however we would also like some additional information to see if we can work out the cause of the problem and stop it happening in future. To assist this process, please can you also tell us the following: 1. Which Affinity app and version did the file last get saved in? Affinity Designer - (1.10.6?) 2. Which Operating System are you using? Windows - (10/11?) 3. Are you saving to an Internal drive, External drive or Network location? 4. Is the folder you're saving to syncing to Google drive, OneDrive, iCloud, Dropbox etc...? 5. Do you have any Anti-virus and/or Anti-malware software running on your machine. If so, which one(s)? 6. Was this file a new document or are you trying to save to an existing document? Existing 7. Are you able to save a new document to the same location? 8. Can you remember what you were working on within the affected document before trying to save? 9. Any other information you think would help us try to find the problem? We suggest that you check to see if you have any backups of the document available in case you're unable to recover the full contents of the file from the recovery provided by Garry. If your document is synced to cloud storage, it may have a File History feature that should allow you to download a previous version of the file. Many thanks in advance Quote
