Ferriero Posted May 15, 2024 Posted May 15, 2024 Hi! I need to repeat some information in the same very long file. In practice it is a contract that yes several pages will have to repeat dozens of times the company name of the customer, or the date of the contract, etc. Is it possible to enter the data only once and find it as it is on the entire contract? Thank you. Quote
mopperle Posted May 15, 2024 Posted May 15, 2024 Guess you are talking about AFPub. You can use the "merge" function which adds data from an external source (like csv, Excel...) and you can also add "fields" with the actual date via the menu Text/Insert/Fields. I never did this myself, cause IMHO writing a contract is more likely be done with a word processor, not with a publishing tool. Quote Regards, Otto Affinity Suite v2.6.x - Windows 11 Pro

Hi @Ferriero, I think a good solution for you would be to use custom fields along with Date&Time field. How it works? You can create a custom field in the Fields panel for your company name or other custom data and set it to hold any text value you wish. Then you can place that field in the document how many times you want by double click on its label in the Fields panel. The value from the field will be inserted in the place where the text cursor is currently located. In the case of the contract date, I would use the [Date & Time] wchich holds the current date and time as a value. If you want you can format the date custom, just click the Edit Field button on the right (the button with three vertical dots) to bring up the format popup.
