A way to quickly make a multi-page document programmatically on the fly?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am using the data merge layout tool (after getting help here) to show content from a CSV file. That being said, I have many files with different number of columns and rows.

Is there a way with publisher to programmatically scan an entire folder and all it's file to loop through each file and create a new page and dynamically change the number of columns depending on maybe some arguments in a file name?

For instance, in a folder:

  • file_1_columns_7
  • file_2_columns_7
  • file_3_columns_9

So on and so forth.

So in the first page of the document, it would be for file 1, and have 7 columns in the merge layout tool, page 2 gets created and it's the same, page 3 is created and it has 9 columns, etc.

Even if it's not exactly like this, something similar or a different way? I can't have all my data sets in same file because the number of columns will be different and depending on that number, I may want to make the cells larger/smaller.

Thanks

Hi @mikeLRBG,

Apologies for our delayed response here!

Unfortunately I don't believe such a workflow is possible at this time - you would likely require support for Scripting to achieve this within Affinity.

Our team are actively working on Scripting features internally, though until we're ready to share more I can't confirm a release schedule or supported features at this time.
However I will be sure to pass through your proposed workflow to our development team for further consideration whilst we create and improve our scripting functionality.

I hope this clears things up :)
