Affinity Publisher latest version (2.4.2) afpub that makes you crash

I'm working on several files from a book, and when I open one of these files, the application crashes and I have to force it to close. The other files in the book have no problems. For the one in question, I'm able to open it correctly only as a single file, from the book the application crashes. As soon as I try to modify it, everything crashes. I can't select elements or groups in layers. Nor can I change the view according to pages. I don't know why this file is the only problem, it's no different from the others I'm working on (similar construction in terms of elements and image weight). 

 

I'm running Windows 10. Hardware acceleration is activated, I tested in deactivated mode and the problem changes slightly: the application no longer crashes but I am unable to modify the document, nothing responds (I can click on the tools and menu but the file itself does not change). When I try to save a copy of the document, the copy does not appear in my files (although the action works without a hitch). If I want to export the file, the application crashes. When I tried to synchronize it via the book, I was able to select items for a moment, then it crashed again.

Hi @Cassiel and welcome to the forums,

A Couple of Questions

1. Are all the files in your Book, right-facing page files or do you have any left-facing page files? I ask because I have seen something very similar in the past which appeared to be a direct result of left-facing page chapters in the book... Individually the chapters were fine but when opened as part of the book the app would hang.
    
2. Is the project one you could upload to the forum so we can take a look at possible causes for the crash?
    
3. When the application crashes, is it generating a crash report and if so could you upload one of the reports so the moderation team can take a look at what might be causing the crash...
    
4. Are the graphics used in your book Linked or Embedded?

Hello, thank you for your help! I don't know why now everything works when I didn't do anything more... the mysteries of technology. 

All the chapters start from the left and the graphics are embedded. Unfortunately I didn't keep the reports, but if the bug comes back I'll send them to you!

I'm glad all appears to be working again but if you see a repeat of the problem let us know and we can hopefully investigate further...
