Installation problem: higher version of this package is already installed

Recommended Posts

The automatic upgrade to Publisher 2.4.2 failed possibly due to file corruption so that software would not run. I logged into my Affinity account and downloaded the latest version available which is 2.4.1.

I attempted to uninstall 2.4.2 but that failed with an error. I therefore deleted all the Publisher files that I can find in Program Files, Program Data and AppData. I also deleted all references to "Affinity" in the Registry that I could find.

Attempts to install 2.4.1 continue to fail with error "higher version of this package is already installed". How do I fix this?

Update: I have fixed my problem by downloading the .exe installer.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

There is no automatic upgrade to 2.4.2, unless you're using the Beta version of the program, as 2.4.1 is the latest retail release.

It sounds like you may have installed originally via the Microsoft Store. You cannot have both the Microsoft Store version and the MSIX version from the Affinity Store installed.
