Affinity Photo 2.4.1 Windows crashing often/randomly

Recommended Posts

Sometimes it crashes when I close an image. Sometimes when I choose a different tool.

Either way, it crashes a lot.

Can I find a download of last version before 2.4.1 until next (hopefully, fixed) version arrives?

Are these problems new with 2.4.1? If not, it's probably best to try to figure out what's going wrong, as it may not be a bug in the program but something in your system.

Are you getting any crash reports?

Also, if you're running with Hardware Acceleration (OpenCL) enabled in your Settings/Performance, have you tried disabling it to see if that helps?

Thanks for the reply/help!

I appreciate the time you took to write all this out.

FYI to admins: That crash reports page seems outdated in terms of finding the right folder. For me, in Windows 11, the path is at C:\Users\{my user name}\.affinity\Photo\2.0\CrashReports\reports

To answer your questions:

(1) Yes, it only started happening with this latest version; I've been using Affinity photo for a few years (since version 1) and always update when updates are available.

(2) Yes, I've had the OpenCL acceleration checked (since way back with no issues). In case that is causing the new issues, I've unchecked it and will watch to see if that helped. Thanks for the idea!

(3) Attaching 3 of the many crash reports that have been happening many times a day every day since upgrade to 4.2.1.

That seems to match what the FAQ i pointed you says, assuming you've installed the default MSIX version from Serif, or the version from the Microsoft Store.

I'll see if I can find anything in the reports, but I can't do it until sometime tomorrow. Though another user or Serif may get to it first.

Apologies. Looking again, I see the path you referred me to is correct.
