KizzyGoodman Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 I'm new to Affinity software, I tried Photoshop and it was easy enough, but the trial ran out and subscription wasn't available in my country. I was told that Affinity s the next best thing; and seeing as i have a mac, i went ahead and downloaded the trial. Before i get started however, i would love to know how best to edit a PSD template that i purchase? It is for a summer camp that I'm running an I need it ASAP! Can anyone point me to the right tutorial video or give me pointers on how to edit a summer camp PSD template flyer, please? Much appreciated! Quote
Staff Callum Posted May 3, 2016 Staff Posted May 3, 2016 Hi KizzyGoodman, Welcome to the Forums :) We don't have any tutorials specifically for editing a PSD template I'm afraid. However as long as the file is in PSD format you should be able to open it by going to File > Open once you are in the app. C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
KizzyGoodman Posted May 3, 2016 Author Posted May 3, 2016 Okay, so editing text and pictures should be straightforward, similar to what you do in photoshop, double click to highlight and change? Quote
Staff MEB Posted May 3, 2016 Staff Posted May 3, 2016 Hi KizzyGoodman, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) For text yes, use the Move Tool to select the text object. If you double-click on it you can edit the text. For images, just replace them with your own. If they are clipped inside a rectangle, double-click on them to select the image, otherwise you will be changing the clipping rectangle. KizzyGoodman 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
sibelius Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 I've opened a PSD file in AP and although the layers are listed on the right I cannot access them in the image. The image appears to be flattened which, obviously, it is not. Quote
Staff MEB Posted May 4, 2016 Staff Posted May 4, 2016 Hi Sibelius, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Without seeing the layer structure is difficult to guess what's the problem. Are the images inside a clipped shape? Do the layers have a small arrow on the left of their thumbnail? Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
KizzyGoodman Posted May 6, 2016 Author Posted May 6, 2016 I actually haven't had any issue, i got my psd templates from creative market, and i have been able to edit an manipulate all of them, it took me awhile to switch between the different cursors on the side that do different things; the black mouse head lets you select a section while the white mousse head allows you to change and edit the words on the template. So thanks a lot for the tips, totally panned out! Quote
