How to keep settings and tools between tabs?

Recommended Posts

I apologize if my English is not perfect and my sentences may not be well-written.

I wanted to ask if there was a chance in the settings, that if I change tabs, from one image to another, the tools and their settings remain the same.

For example, if I select the Rectangular Marquee Tool with the 'Add' option, I want it to remain that way in the tab if i switch.

Hi @Alcahest,

Welcome to the Affinity Forums :)

Not to worry, your English is certainly understandable - but if you wish to post in your native language, then you are welcome to do this and our team can translate our replies.

Under Affinity [Photo/Designer/Publisher] 2 > Settings > Tools (macOS) or Edit > Settings > Tools (Windows) you can enable the Synchronise Tools between documents option;

However unfortunately this isn't currently supported for all tools, including the Selection tools - such as the Marquee Selection being set to the 'Add' mode, therefore this will be document independent at this time.

This is logged with our development team, to add support for these selection tools to synchronise across documents in a future update, therefore I'll be sure to add your 'vote' to this now.

I hope this clears things up!

Please note -

I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time.

Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible.

Many thanks!
