Adding a caption to a photo that is wrapped by text?

Recommended Posts

Where might one find a description of how to add a caption below a photo that has been wrapped by text. After successfully placing a photo within text frame and performing a text wrap in the attached Publisher file, the caption at the right doesn't seen to want to be added in the space below the photo.

Searching Pulisher help and the Publisher forum have not yielded any results. Any help is appreciated.

The text in this file was imported from Word.

Hi Bob, the best option is to group the image and caption together and then apply text wrap to the group instead of to the image.

Hmmm. Back again. I'm having trouble. After grouping the photo, caption and a line of separation. The three are grouped together at the right of the text layout. When I move this group around the page the caption sometimes disappears and then reappears. I'm baffled. Wondered if there is something about the text style that could be causing this.

The photo was placed in the group from the original. Also, there seems to be a margin near the bottom of photo that prevents the caption to be placed closer to the photo. That happened even when the three elements were not grouped.  Any thoughts on what might be causing that?

Thanks again.

Hi Bob, the caption is disappearing sometimes because you have baseline grid turned on for this document (which is a good idea) but when the image is positioned so that the caption doesn't align to the baseline grid, the caption text won't fit in its frame. In this screenshot with the baseline grid visible, you can see the caption's frame offset from the grid. Publisher is trying to fit the text to the baseline below the frame.

You could solve this by turning on snapping for the baseline grid (in View > Snapping) and aligning the caption frame to the grid.

Alternatively, you could select the caption frame layer and turn off Paragraph > Baseline Grid > Align to Baseline Grid.

Cheers
