LaPope79 Posted March 8, 2024 Posted March 8, 2024 As per the post title, is this not possible? I'm considering switching from Illustrator, but this is essential behaviour for the work I do. Am I missing something? Aammppaa 1 Quote
Hangman Posted March 8, 2024 Posted March 8, 2024 Hi @LaPope79 and welcome to the forums, Staggeringly no... I've always assumed this to be a bug... To my way of thinking, if you move a shape's origin, using Flip Horizontal and Flip Vertical should flip the shape about its origin but it doesn't it flips the shape about its centre so subsequently flips the shape's origin... This may well be the intended behaviour for these tools but if that is the case then the apps are sorely missing a proper reflect tool... LaPope79 Posted March 8, 2024 Author Posted March 8, 2024 @Hangman thank you! Yeah it does seem like something that's been 'missed'. It's a shame because I'd love to switch, but not sure it's going to be at all practical to do so. Quote
Hangman Posted March 8, 2024 Posted March 8, 2024 @LaPope79, Rotating around a object’s transform origin works as expected, it feels as though Flip Horizontal and Vertical would benefit from a modifier key… Without the modifier the object Flips around its centre as it currently does, with the modifier it flips around its transform origin… Quote Affinity Designer 2.6.3 | Affinity Photo 2.6.3 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.3 MacBook Pro M3 Max, 36 GB Unified Memory, macOS Sonoma 14.6.1, Magic Mouse HP ENVY x360, 8 GB RAM, AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, Windows 10 Home, Logitech Mouse
