I can't see how to start the page 1 number on a book that has five blank pages at the beginning.

-- I've tried creating a separate masters for the front matter and the rest of the book, but number 1 still starts on the first document page. In other words, where I want the first page of the story to read "1" it reads "5".

-- I've tried entering "0" in the field "Start page numbering at" in the Section Manager, but it does not accept zero.

--I've tried searching in the forum, but it gives me everything with the word "page" in it.

The videos I've watched have only told how to change the numbering from Roman to Arabic numerals, not how to suppress them altogether.

Any ideas?

  1. Click the Section Manager icon in the Pages panel or choose Window > Section Manager.
  2. Click the Add Section icon
  3. Change Start On Page to the number of the page on which you want to reset page numbering to 1
  4. Select Restart Page Numbering At and set it to 1

Perfect! Thanks!

By the way, I finally figured out my baseline grid problem. I was trying to make the system do what it can't, and logically shouldn't. But I do appreciate your patience!
