Hello,

I am trying to export a gif that matches an existing set of images and have discovered some issues with GIF export:

1) In the GIF export dialog box, under Advanced, the Custom Palette setting does not work. When selected the Preview never appears (I let it go for almost 8 hours). If I go ahead and click export, I get an error.

2) Choosing Automatic for the Palette creates artifacts in a flat area of color. This is less of a bug and more of a quality issue with the GIF export feature.

This occurs in both Photo and Designer, with or without hardware accelleration.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Really old bug

i dont understand that Affinity keeps an UI option active since 9 years for a function where they actually have absolutely no intention to implement any time. They should grey it out or better remove it / making it invisible like the lock aspect symbol in light UI (which is unintentional, it is a joke).

The palettized colors are not sampled as exact values, but always kind of posterized. If you have solid color areas, it will result in a diffused pattern of at least 2 colors.

Both issues make the palettized export almost unusable for most use case. I see this function more as a kind of dirty hack or filter to quickly create images looking like 1980.
