How to hide red snapping dot when working with text?

I can't figure out how to hide the "red snapping dot" when editing text. I've played around with multiple settings in the snapping panel, but the only way I can hide it is by disabling all snapping -- which I don't want. I need the text frames to snap to page/guides/objects. But everytime I go to edit text the "red dot" follows the text cursor all around, making it quite difficult to manage and very cumbersome.

Have you tried turning off the option to show snapping candidates?

Yes, snapping candidates are off. I've tried every possible snapping option with no luck. Makes working with text a chore.
