MikeTO
I think Split Notes could be enhanced to be less aggressive with splitting by allowing for some vertical adjustment of a preceding note. In the left example of this test doc, the single sidenote is not split even though the marker is on the second last line because Publisher adjusted the note's vertical position relative to the marker. This is great. In the right example, the second sidenote is split because Publisher only adjusts that note's vertical position, not the preceding note's position. It would have been a better outcome had Publisher shifted the first sidenote up to make room for the second sidenote rather than splitting it. sidenote.afpub FYI, there is another suggestion on vertical positioning but it's for a new option to allow users to stack sidenotes at the top or bottom. I expanded on this and suggested adding a Vertical Alignment option to Notes > Positioning with options of Automatic (default), Top, Bottom. Automatic would do what it does now, aligning the sidenote to the note reference while Top and Bottom would stack the notes from top to bottom or bottom to top. They would continue to be in separate frames, there's no need to join them together. Bo Solo
Completely agree with Mike. I moved from InDesign to AfPub for the simplicity of importing word documents with footnotes and then seamlessly converting them to sidenotes (typographic marginalia). Their vertical alignment is fundamental. I know that the developers have an unending list of improvement suggestions, and are doing a great job implementing them (think about Windows ARM64 added recently), but this would be one great improvement for the book layout. Simply let me know how many upvotes you need and I'll find enough book designers to support this request. RM f/g and MikeTO
