Scripting - general inquiry on state of play

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Newbie here.  Wish to purchase software, but before I make the jump, can you help me out with what the scripting options are.  I think I read in the forum, scripting was talked about 4 years ago.  I am wandering what progress has been made on this front.

It comes across, as there still might not be any scripting integration.  If there are plans to introduce then a timeline and what language etc, would help, to help me decide my purchase.

Many thanks

Welcome to the forums @Dimwit

You can read (and follow) this thread https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/64885-scripting/ for more information about scripting.

That seems to be the official place for Serif to tell us what’s happening with scripting so if there’s any news on this then it will either be announced there or the functionality will be in a beta release, which will have its own thread in the relevant forum section.

Note: At the time of writing, there isn’t any kind of scripting functionality other than macros, which can only be created in Photo.

Also, the Macro functionality is very primitive & limited. For instance it can't open or save files & has no conditionals.
