Affinity Photo crashes on new/open/paste from clipboard action.

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I used quite long time version 2.0.3 and that was working fine (also all versions before). Then suddenly today Affinity photo starts fine and displays new document dialog.
At the moment I press create -it closes. I can press cancel and then File->Open->and select any random image from HDD - Affinity Photo closes.
I can do new from clipboard (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+N) - same result program closes
Updated to 2.2.0 - no difference, still closes.

I'm not able to point aunt any specific action I may did to cause this.

Using windows 11. Log(s) attached.

The "36fbf799-fa33-4196-ae63-6c0388f9614b.dmp" crash report from "Photo.exe  2.0.3.1688" looks pretty much identical to this one from another user ...

... where probably C1 when running in parallel seems to be conflicting with APh. - To the OP, do you use C1 at all?

The other one "Photo.exe  2.2.0.2005 -- 7da73317-3a72-4098-810b-6d4facb7b453.dmp" looks more to be GPU driver + OpenCL related (nvptxJitCompiler64.dll, nvopencl64.dll, unloaded OpenCL.dll, NvCameraAllowlisting64.dll ... etc.) !

"Photo.exe  2.2.0.2005" and the v2.2 release now don't suffer from the C1 conflicting problem anymore, according to the user of above referenced thread! - So I would concentrate for v2.2.0 instead more on checking GPU driver and it's settings related behaviors here.

Thank you for you support!
The  --no-ocl flag resolved the issue.
So as final solution I had to disable the hardware acceleration under performance settings.
