Hi, I have a multipage PDF, wisht o open it in Affinity Publisher and convert it to Black & White. For that I add a Master Page with the required settings, and then apply it to ALL PAGES. But nothing happens.

If applying the same settings to each page individually, the desired result happens.

Strangely, when drawing a SHAPE in the MASTER, the Shape appears on all pages, but not the same...

see attached screen-shots...

Can anybody help / instruct how to proceed? Am I Missing something fundamental?

Thank you,

JPC

When applied via a Master Page, the Adjustment is at the bottom of the layer stack (see your Layers panel in the first screenshot) and therefore doesn't apply to anything that is directly on the document page (above the Master Page layer).

You could apply the Adjustment as you did, and then:

  1. Pick one document page.
  2. Right-click on the Master A layer and choose Edit Linked.
  3. Select the Adjustment layer.
  4. Then, from the menu, something like Layer > Arrange > Move to Front. (I'm away from the computer at the moment, so I can't confirm the exact wording or location.)
  5. Then click Finish.

Alternatively, perhaps you could simply use Document Setup and change the Color to Grayscale?

Thank you, I just saw your other post form 2021 where you explained the steps in detail. It worked.

I want to use Black & White, not Grayscale, and in the layers section, there are plenty of different B&W settings where I can choose the most suitable one...

Appreciate your quick response!

Hi Walt.Farrell,

can you help me find you post from 2021 where you described all steps in Detail? I am again at a point where I can't do it, and also can't find your older post.

Thank you,

JPC

I think you probably mean this one (and I see that my instructions above omit the grouping step):

If that's not it, here's a search for similar posts I've made: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/search/&q=Layer arrange front&quick=1&author=walt.farrell&search_and_or=and&sortby=relevancy

Thank you - I could not find your instructions from the past, but I could solve it with the help of your comments to the other posts.

All pages are now adjusted as to get the best contrast.

Appreciate your help.
