Tim Parsons
I've posted this back in December but I thought I would give it another go in hopes that a user might be able to shed some light on this but also I am hoping that someone from Affinity will see this and comment as to when some of these capabilities may be coming AP2. So on with it - I currently use PS CS6 for DOF effects from 3D render still images and I was wondering how to do the same in AP2. I've attached a YouTube link to share the process in CS6 and hope to be able to do something similar in AP2 but for the life of me cannot figure out the recipe. I'm hoping somebody here would know the secret. I've also attached files! https://youtu.be/vmTn_zcohwI Edited August 29, 2023 by Tim Parsons Added images to test. v_kyr
Well, on the net you will find a bunch of DoF Effects for APh and even it's online help covers that theme ... Depth of Field Effect- Amazing Trick - APh Tutorial (Youtube) Depth Of Field Blur filter (APh Online help) ... A general Web seach after that topic will list you many tutorials and examples for this ... Tim Parsons
Thanks v_kyr. I am well aware of those tools but none of them are aware of the actual depth, whereas in my example of using a depth map generated from the 3D software we can make images depth aware. New versions of PS now have A.I. to help determine actual depth of an image, but I am not interested in getting stuck in the Adobe ecosystem. The method I outlined is very common in the 3D application space when combined with compositing applications such as After Effects, Fusion, Nuke and HitFilm. But for quick still imagery the Photoshop method is ideal and I would love to be able to do the same in AP.

I don't think you will get actual exactly the same depth map related effects with APh in this regard. However, there were some threads about that theme in the pasts here in the forum too. ...
