Thanks v_kyr. I am well aware of those tools but none of them are aware of the actual depth, whereas in my example of using a depth map generated from the 3D software we can make images depth aware. New versions of PS now have A.I. to help determine actual depth of an image, but I am not interested in getting stuck in the Adobe ecosystem. The method I outlined is very common in the 3D application space when combined with compositing applications such as After Effects, Fusion, Nuke and HitFilm. But for quick still imagery the Photoshop method is ideal and I would love to be able to do the same in AP.

I've posted this back in December but I thought I would give it another go in hopes that a user might be able to shed some light on this but also I am hoping that someone from Affinity will see this and comment as to when some of these capabilities may be coming AP2. So on with it - I currently use PS CS6 for DOF effects from 3D render still images and I was wondering how to do the same in AP2. I've attached a YouTube link to share the process in CS6 and hope to be able to do something similar in AP2 but for the life of me cannot figure out the recipe. I'm hoping somebody here would know the secret. I've also attached files! https://youtu.be/vmTn_zcohwI

I would also love to have this feature in AP so I can get rid of PS cs6 from my PC.

Affinity Photo causes I/O issues

Like I said above my issue has been resolved with the purchase of a larger thumb drive. 😀 Just make a note of the issue and relay it to the devs. 😃 Thanks -
Affinity Photo causes I/O issues

Well saving to USB drives is a an everyday occurrence for a lot of people and no other application I use has issues with it. If this issue has been reported repeatedly it seems that they must be aware of the issue and the expectation would be at some point they correct it. I have since upgraded my USB drive to a larger size so running out of space should be mitigated. I agree that saving to internal drive is most likely best, but as I mentioned earlier working a hybrid work situation working from a portable drive makes a lot of sense and it has worked out just fine until this point of running out of space on the drive. -

No worries. I'm sure it's not something that would happen often or even be checked against in a beta. Of note it not only effected the printer but it caused errors in other programs saving to that drive as well even though there was plenty of space for a 384KB 3D object file that ended up being corrupted. -

Yes - working a hybrid work at home in the office work week. And the thumb drives are easy to transport. I do log-in into the office server each night to transfer the files for safe keeping, but I lost track of how much space was left on the thumb drive. The affinity format isn't exactly a compressed format. -
Affinity Photo 1.10.4.1198 running in Windows10 with 32GB will cause general I/O and print failures IF: A USB thumb drive runs out of space. I save lots of my work to a USB thumb drive and if the USB thumb drive runs out of space you'll get the error that the drive ran out of space. Problem is when it does that you can redirect the save to another drive and it still gives the same error. Also it messes with the printer too. The printer (Canon MG3222) will no longer print and print jobs don't queue up. (print jobs are coming Chrome web browser) The fix is to lose your work and close Affinity Photo and restart it. The print jobs can then be performed and AP will now save files to another drive.
