HappyPixels_Sandra
I’m disappointed in version 2. It’s crashing all the time and I repeatedly have to redo work. I’m afraid that I’m going to lose my work (when it won’t open the work until I’ve tried a few times). If I work too fast, it crashes. If I zoom in or out or around my doc, it crashes. Thumbnails of assets\curves etc take forever to load, so I’m guessing as to which layer I need until it’s highlighted on the screen. Crashes immediately upon opening, at times. Attaching my storage and iPad info. I’m up to date with version 2 of Affinity. I’d really appreciate any advice before I give up. Thanks! Staff NathanC Posted August 18, 2023 Staff Share Posted August 18, 2023 Hi @HappyPixels_Sandra welcome to the forums, Sorry to hear that, just from the get-go based on Designer's storage size along with the problems described I would initially suggest going through a full factory reset of the app followed by a re-install. Note: This will clear off any custom assets, brushes etc. so they will need to be re-imported/downloaded after. Also: Be sure to save any live docs that have not been saved directly to your iPad Files/Cloud Storage, as all unsaved live docs get wiped, along with any files saved to the default 'Affinity Designer' Folder in the Files app, save these to a different folder if applicable. Completely close Designer 2 Launch Designer 2 and quickly double tap during the splash/loading screen This will prompt a 'Clear User Data' menu, press 'Select All' Uncheck De-activate Affinity 2 apps and then press 'Reset' The factory reset app will now launch. Now that all the local files have been reset, I would then suggest removing the app and then re-installing it from the iOS store, but as mentioned previously back-up and save ALL files in the 'Live Docs' screen, along with any files saved to the 'Affinity Designer' folder in the Files app to a different location. Once that has been done, see how it goes with a freshly reset app.
HappyPixels_Sandra
I've saved (on my iPad) before trying your suggestion. I opened the file on my laptop and got this message (see attached). Also, just prior to this, some brushes were switched and it looks like I'll have to go back to redo a lot of my work. I don't understand why they switched without me doing anything. Multiple lines throughout my project. So even if I haven't lost hours of work, I'll have to go back to update those lines? Please tell me there's a way to save my file on my iPad (designer 2) so that it will still open in Designer 2 (on my laptop or on my iPad) when I reinstall the program? I'll take having to redo all those lines instead of redoing all that character design work I did yesterday and this morning. Thanks!
HappyPixels_Sandra
I think I rescued my files my exporting as svg files and resaving in a new document. I've done the factory reset on my iPad. Fingers crossed
