How to flood fill a simple shape in affinity 2

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I am trying to flood fill a simple shape for practice, but no matter what I do, the tool does nothing. The shape is the blue shape I drew with lines. I can’t even choose the fill of the shape I drew on the menu like how you can with the default shapes affinity gives you. Is there a way to fill it in? 😭

Hi @yahooyippie and welcome to the forum.

Which fill tool do you use?

Flood Fill Tool or Vector Fill Tool?

The Flood Fill Tool works only on closed areas but not groups with line segments.

In addition to the advice above, the ‘shape’ you have is just a group of straight curves, not an actual shape.

As such, you cannot add a fill colour to the ‘shape’ as there is nothing to fill; it’s just four disconnected two-dimensional lines which happen to look like a shape.

Once you have answered the questions above, and told us which Affinity application(s) you have available, and told us whether you need a vector fill or raster fill, we can advise further.
