Possibly you have edited text on the left document pages. On document pages edited master layer text doesn't react any more on master page style change, on purpose.

If you use saved text styles then a change is easy to do via the Text Style panel. No need to do a change on a master page.

Not sure I follow on the first one. How can I get it to react to the master again?

I've figured out what's causing it. It's a user error. I wanted to create an editable title for each page, but as soon as I edit the title, it makes it not respond to the master any longer. Hence, why I get the dotted line, I guess?

Yes, this is what I meant above with my "first one". The dotted line is not an issue, just an indicator for edited layers. With using the Text Frame panel + saved text styles your master page text style problem is easy to solve and you can work with an editable title for each page.
