So I just bought a new laptop with Windows 11 and wanted to install Photo and Designer (v1). Both run fine on my Windows 10 PC, however, when I want to install it on my Laptop it instantly crashes. I can't even log in with my activation key. When I uninstall Photo, for example, delete the cache and the installer and re-install Photo, I can accept the terms and conditions but then it crashes. I pretty much did everything I could think of, Updates, re-installing, installing older versions, deleting cache, updating to the latest graphics driver, etc.

Anyone got a clue what could be wrong?

Cheers, Felix

Welcome!

Hard to tell without any further Win system crash report informations. Meaning here, there could be various possible causes for such a behavior, like GPU + OpenCL, something related as .net runtime not found ... etc.

As it seems to crash at a very early start-up state Affinity's own crash reports are possibly are even not written here, so you have to look after Win 11 error logs etc. here in order to find and narrow down the cause of all evil!

I've got a crash log for every time I try to boot up Photo. DO you know where I can post them or if you can send them to someone to check the problem?

If it's not a giant one (aka a huge log file) you can place/attach it here in this thread (as an file attachment to a thread posting). - Or, sometimes even better, you may want to wait until some Affinity Moderator offers you some upload link to send it in for an inspection!

@FelixTheGinger Can you please try the suggestions in this FAQ article to see if they help in getting the apps installed on your system. If they fail, check for the Setup.log file as the article suggests and post here so it can be checked.

Everything looks ok in the SetupUI.log, it shows the installation was completed so it doesn't seem to be an installation issue. You can try turning off OpenCL using the steps here to see if the cause relates to that. Can you also confirm the make/model of your graphics card and version of driver installed.

You can also check the Windows Event Viewer when the apps opening to see if anything is logged.

For turning off the as default always enabled OpenCL compute acceleration, you can also tryout this tool here ...

@v_kyr @Lee D I had a look in the Windows Event Viewer and every time I try to boot up Photo it crashes and in the Problem tab it tells me that there's a problem with .NET Runtime (ID 1026)

I installed a repair software for .net Runtime from Microsoft but it didn't seem to work.

You guys got a clue?
