I have been trying to figure out why Designer is performing so slow right now. Nothing has changed with my setup and I have plenty of resources. Every time I drag a gradient across the artboard, the program locks up and I have to wait at least 4-5 minutes for the beach ball to stop or I have to force quit the application. I also noticed that when I zoom in on an artboard or work file, the program never adjusts the image. It just stays blurry.

Which of your two GPUs and hardware acceleration settings (Metal, OpenGL or OpenGL (Basic), Software acceleration) is setup and used under your ADe preferences performance option settings?

☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan

Might be some bug related to ADe running under MacOS Ventura here then. You can check if tha latest Affinity Designer 2.1.1 beta does behave differently and maybe better here.

Can you please try turning off metal and let me know if this improves the response time when you drag the gradient on the artboard
