Beautiful-Cranberry Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 It's such a basic thing, I searched for it online and posts asking about it going back to 2014. Searching for it in the forums here, all I see for responses are workarounds. Why is this not an option in Publisher? It's very bizarre. Can this please be added in ASAP? Quote
walt.farrell Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 You can save a gradient in Publisher. Just create it as the Fill for some object and then you can add it to the current Palette that you're using, just like it seems to say in the first search result you found. Beautiful-Cranberry Posted June 4, 2023 Author Posted June 4, 2023 Is there a way to copy an existing gradient that's currently filling text? I already created the gradient, and there's no way to save it. I have to recreate it and apply it to a new object in order to save it? Quote

If it's Artistic Text, just select the text object using the Move Tool, right-click, and Add to Swatches, just as with any other object whose Fill you want to add to a Palette. This was an epic tip, thank you Red Sands! Thank you as well Walt. I could not add the gradient to the swatches from the text, it was text in a text box that had a fill. So, not artistic text or a vector or an image. Here's the gradient I was trying to add to the swatches: It's just odd to me that I can't right click the gradient in the fill circle, or double click it and add it to the swatches. It just seems very counter intuitive as it is. To save the gradients (I made multiple), I ended up doing what you suggested first Walt, I just recreated the gradient and put it in a shape and then added it to the palette. That worked fine. Hopefully this thread helps someone else if they come here searching for ways to save a gradient in Publisher (she said, purposely adding the keyword phrase.) Haha Quote

With a Text Frame, unless you're in the Text Frame panel you're dealing with the Fill of the text itself, not the Fill of the frame. So that's why it didn't work there.
