I have enabled "Select object when intersects with selection marquee" in the tools settings as that is what I am used to from illustrator. It works for everything except cropped images.

If I place the image in a shape to crop it it will still select on intersection, but if I have cropped the image with the vector crop tool, I must completely surround the image with the selection marquee or it will not be selected, even with the "select on intersection" setting turned on.

Not sure if this is intended but I don't see any reason as to why if it is intended as it is very annoying. For example if I want to select a whole area of content including some cropped images to move them, everything will select apart from the cropped images and when I go to move them they will be left behind which is so frustrating, especially considering with a whole page of images I cannot remember which were cropped and which were not.

I imagine it would be a super easy fix so would love to see it fixed in one of the upcoming beta's for designer and publisher.

Welcome to the forums @Bradley Matthew

What you have described, if I have interpreted it correctly, is working for me – see attached video.
Can you supply a document which exhibits this behaviour, or give us a video which demonstrates it?

Or have I misinterpreted what you have said? If so, can you describe the full process so we can try and reproduce it?

I have successfully replicated it consistently and the circumstances in which it occurs are odd. It will only happen in Publisher (latest beta as well as the latest official release), and ONLY if the document is set up to include facing pages. It will occur in all three personas (Publisher, Designer, and Photo). It will only occur with images cropped via the vector crop tool.

Screen recording attached.

Thanks for the video.

Yeah, that is odd, and I can’t think of a reason why that would be expected behaviour.
I’ve replicated it by using rectangles, instead of images.

Good catch finding the Facing Pages thing; I would never have thought of looking there for something like this.

Unless anyone else can give a good reason why it should be working like this then I’d say it was a bug and should be reported as such.
(Maybe it’s related to a known bug which has already been reported.)

Could you link me to where I can report bugs please?, the page that came up from a google search seems to be missing.

Go to the forum home page (at the top left of any forum page press the Affinity logo, or the "Browse" link below that, or the "Forums" link below that), then scroll down to the Bug Reporting section, then click on the link for the relevant sub-section – e.g. “V2 Bugs found on Windows”.

When you post the bug report try and give as much information as you can – e.g. the video and other background info’ – so that the developers have what they need to reproduce it.

You can give a link, in the bug report post, to this thread so there’s a way to get back to this discussion.
You can also give a link in this thread to the bug thread so people can follow it through.

There are various way to get a link to a forum post but one way is to click on the “three dots” icon at the top-right of a post, choose “Share” and then copy the link given. You can then paste the link it into another post elsewhere.

If you don't feel up to adding links, for whatever reason, then don't worry about it; someone else might do it for you.
