Hi there,

as a recent user of photo2 (and as a lifelong addict to photoshop) I am still experiencing surprises and, due to a lack of knowledge and understanding, temporary disappointments. Here is the most important that actually drives me crazy: I'm used to zoom into my photos (300 to 400%) before starting to select parts of the document. Maybe that this is no longer looked upon as necessary, but I like it. In my Photoshop workflow the selecting tool moved easily crossing the borders of the given document edges and continued selecting while the picture rolled following the movement of the tool. I enjoyed this kind of working cause it gave me a feeling of sufficient control. I miss it. Is there any hint or hidden functionality that would allow me to work in the same way I am used to? Thank you for your answers. I'm over 60 but willing and able to learn. Hopefully! ;-)

If I understand you correctly, it's working that way for me. I zoom in on a photo and then using the Rectangular Marquee tool, I drag select an area of the photo but drag past the edge of the visible photo so that Affinity must scroll the photo for me to continue the selection. It works perfectly smoothly for me, identical to Photoshop.

Are you using macOS or Windows? I'm on Mac. Could you share a screen recording of the issue?

Good luck

If you are asking about auto-scrolling around a zoomed in document when using the Move Tool to create a selection, AFAIK, there is no way to do that in Affinity.

I'm pretty sure it has been requested but not implemented (yet).

But as Mike mentioned, auto-scrolling when using the Rectangular Marquee Tool (& the Elliptical Marquee Tool) does work. Annoyingly, it does not work with any of the other pixel selection tools like the Freehand Selection Tool. That much feels like a bug.
