Frankster72 Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 After using a while on my ipad pro M1, affinity photo 2.04 automatically hides the adjustment dialouge of curves, levels, etc... when trying to open it. sometimes it stays visible for some secs and then hides. The application like this is unusable. restart the app does not help. restart the ipad helps for a while. with affinity photo 1, this never happens. also in Beta 2.1 this issue is clear reproduceable. Staff NathanC Posted April 20, 2023 Staff Posted April 20, 2023 Hi @Frankster72 welcome to the forums, Could you provide a little more detail on the issue, I have a few follow up queries below: You mention that the issue is reproducible, could you provide us with any solid steps towards replicating the issue? Do you have any sample .afphoto files that you could provide us with that you're experiencing this issue on? It would also help if you're able to capture this issue on a screen recording, if you're unsure on how to do this I have provided a guide below. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/ipad/ipad08a40f3b/ipados Many thanks 🙂 Quote
Frankster72 Posted April 20, 2023 Author Posted April 20, 2023 Hello, thank you for your response. I attached a sample video and the affinity file of the video. to reproduce: 1. start affinity photo 2. open first sample 3. add an adjustment layer with a dialog like curves Usually the dialog hides right away, if it stays or if you fast enough to hit a sub dialog like the curves difinition window, Changes will have no affect. When the app is in that state, closing the app and restarting the app does not help. Usually the ipad need to be restartet. With Affinity Photo 1.10.7 which is also installed on the ipad I never run into these issues. So I assume it is a software issue. To reproduce the state I do my usual work doing photo retouching with affinty. Sometimes right away, sometimes after a half hour I run into this issue. I noticed that affinity photo 2.x keeps growing ipad memory usage and does not free all the memory of the edit files used when closing. After 100gb of memory usage, just by the app I reinstalled affinity photo. With version 1.10.4 everything was freed. May this is a hint. I hope this helps RPReplay_Final1681993086.mp4 error.afphoto Quote
Staff NathanC Posted April 20, 2023 Staff Posted April 20, 2023 Hey @Frankster72 thanks for following up, This may sound a little strange, but is your iPad being positioned/held at an angle? There is a known issue which is currently logged with the developers which causes the adjustment interface to flicker/disappear completely when your iPad is positioned at a certain angle (Around 26/27 degrees). If you put your iPad down on a completely flat surface you should then be able to re-select your adjustment by double tapping and adjust it without it then disappearing again. Frankster72 1 Quote

Hello Nathan, wow! usually I use the ipad with be angle of the cover. Could be around 26/27 degrees. When laying down the ipad or holding it more straight the issue is gone! Thank your very much for your reply. I hope the issue becomes fixed in the near future so affinity is fully usable also in angled position. Best regards Frank Hello, thank you for your response.
