Hi,

 

I've not been into vector design for ages, but AD forces me… so, question is: how does creating your own brush really work, from scratch.

 

I'd like to make something like a drinking straw as in the picture below. I imagine it must be possible to have a brush that draws both the yellow straw itself and the blueish banderole around it. Would be even better if this brush generated drinking straw "ends" with a shadow or so.

 

So, folks, let me participate in your unreal skills!

Hi Peterkaosa,

 

Check out Ronnie McBrides tutorial on creating custom brushes, the first part of the video is creating the image to use as a brush. If you skip to around the 8 Min mark, he shows how to use that image to create a image brush you could even use the image you attached as a test.
