Hi everyone

I am planning on doing a poster promoting a conference and would like to play around with combining shapes and text (as seen in the attached image)

What is the best way to do this? Should I just type what I want, then convert to curves and then use the pen tool and combine/subtract my lines/shapes with the letters?

Is there another way?

I use affinity photo 2

There are several ways to do so and it partly depends on the app you use for it (APh, ADe, APub). - If needed, you can convert shapes/text to curves and group or merge those together, or instead keep text editable and group/combine.

☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan
☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2

Hi Martin,

As you are using Photo its likely better to keep the text editable and then group the shape with the text layer as V_kyr mentioned.

Thanks
