TEWilk Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 I am having frequent crashes in Publisher v2. By crashes I mean that the window disappears and the program is no longer running. Windows 11 Publisher 2.0.4 Hardware acceleration On. The crashes begin when I use footnotes and enable Pack short notes in the Notes panel, and go away when I disable Pack short notes. With Pack short notes enabled, sometimes when typing in text the program crashes. Also Pack short notes does not work properly in that 1) It sometimes does not pack notes when it should and instead puts the new footnote on the next page 2) It sometimes does pack the notes, but makes the second note on the line inaccessable for further edits (but so far has not done this to the first or third note on a line) 3) It sometimes causes footnote numbering to start over with 1 in the middle of a section. Staff Lee D Posted March 27, 2023 Staff Posted March 27, 2023 Have you tried resetting your app? Hold down the CTRL key and open the app, when the prompt appears release the key. Now click on the Clear button and the app will continue to open. Is this happening with a particular document or can you recreate the issue with a new blank document? Quote
TEWilk Posted March 28, 2023 Author Posted March 28, 2023 The crashes still happen after resetting the app, and whether acceleration is off and on. It seems to require a large document, though. It only started after more than thirty pages, including tables. Quote
TEWilk Posted May 3, 2023 Author Posted May 3, 2023 The crashes still persist, both on the release version and on the last three Betas. The problem begins when a file reaches about 20 pages. This happens on different files. The problems are most frequent when a flow has filled up or has recently been extended. The problem only occurs when entering text or deleting text. Frequent saving of the file, as in after every phrase entered, postpones the appearance of the problem. The crashes still happen after resetting the app, and whether acceleration is off and on Quote
