Hello. I’m using the trial version of Affinity Designer on my iPad Air 3 (iPadOS 16.3.1), and I was a paid v1 user before that.

I’m noticing quite a lot of bugs, some of which workflow breaking:

When expanding a stroke, sometimes the resulting curve has unexpected nodes, holes and it doesn’t match the stroke it was expanded from.

Adding a color to the application palette is a mess: it looks like it added all the recent colors, and it is unusable until you exit and re enter the document. This happens every time.

Sometimes when switching fill and stroke colors with the gesture, the fill becomes completely unresponsive. It stays transparent, and the color can’t be changed in any way, unless you paste a style.

There’s no clear way to rename files.

I haven’t found a way to insert filler text, even if the guide mentions it.

As for regressions:

The edit menu was much more clear in v1, having icons for every menu item was optimal.

Grouping required a single touch on v1.

Smaller left and right toolbars left more space for the document.

Hi @That_computerguy welcome to the forums,

Your post has been moved over to the bugs section as the majority of your points fit in better here. Going forward if you do have bugs to raise with us for investigation please post them in the relevant section and provide as much detail as possible on each issue (guidance on bug posting is available here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/71-bug-reporting/), it's also much easier for us to manage and follow up (and appreciated!) if you keep it to one bug per thread. 🙂

We do have a few outstanding issues with the expand stroke function however these are reviewed on a file/case by case basis, if you could provide us with a sample .afdesign file with this issue prior to expanding I can investigate further and get this logged.

If I have understood correctly I believe this issue is fixed in the 2.1 beta, this is easy to download and try for yourself and installs as a completely separate app to the release version, I have provided a link below which details how to download the Beta app.

If it's an issue you can still replicate in 2.1, please let me know and if you could provide a screen recording demonstrating the issue that would be great.

It would be beneficial if you could provide us with a screen recording demonstrating this issue with using the swap fill/stroke gesture, as I've not been able to replicate an issue with this so far, also if you have the 2.1 beta download try this on the beta version for comparison.

The way files are renamed on iPad was changed to better match the behaviour on desktop, renaming the file is done when you save/save as the file (which can be done from live docs screen, press the burger menu at the top right hand corner of the file you want to rename/save).

Currently, this is only possible in Publisher iPad and is done when you have a text insertion point in a text frame, if you long press on the frame you will get access to the Quick menu where one of the options is 'Insert Filler Text'. More information is below:

Based on user feedback the edit menu has been redesigned in the latest 2.1 beta version, I have linked a forum post below which goes into more detail on this.
