Bonjour

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

The assets.propcol file contains all of the Assets in your Assets panel. Yes, it can be quite large. Mine is about 5GB, for example.

When it is big, you may have performance problems as it will also use a lot of memory in the applications while they are running, and you will need to read/write a lot of data when you make changes to the Assets.

You may also have more issues with the file becoming damaged while you make changes.

The only way to reduce the size, I think, would be to install fewer Assets. Instead of using the Assets panel, you could keep them as separate files in the file system, and use Place or drag/drop when you want to add them to your designs.

Cordialement

For 0x800700005 I would suggest the FAQ:

However, uninstalling/installing will probably not change the size of your assets.propcol file. Are you having a problem, other than its size? How many assets (and what kind of assets) do you have installed?

If it is just assets.propcol you are worried about, you can delete that file and let the application rebuild it, or you can hold the Ctrl key while starting the application and choose Reset Assets from the Clear User Data menu.
