It seems to me as a bug, but maybe it's a feature :)

When mask is applied to the layer and then Gaussian blur is applied to the mask, blurring is visible on the layer content, but not presented on the mask preview. See the example:

Please click composite alpha in channels tab.

Does the blur become visible?

If the intention is to blur only the mask drag the Gaussian B. to only affect the mask.

The blur filter isn't a child of the mask, so the mask preview is correct.

However, even when the filter is a child of the mask, Affinity currently does not render its effect in the preview of the mask. Hopefully, that will be changed soon, along with fixes to known bugs involving alpha adjustments nested in masks.
