Hello folks,

I think I saw a thread on this before but can't seem to find it now. I have a 450MB publisher file even though all resources are linked. It's like it's embedded them even though they say linked in the Resource Manager. I have another very similar file that is 21MB where it appears the linking is working as expected.

Any ideas how to fix it?

Thanks!

Try this...

In Resource Manager change all linked files to Embedded
Save & Close document
Reopen document and change Embedded documents back to Linked
Save as... to a new file name

Yep, that worked. But I'm going to get carpal tunnel from the extra 200-300 clicks to fix this every few days.

387MB - file size before troubleshooting

501MB - file size after embedding everything (guess the first wasn't embedding everything.)

16MB - file size after turning everything back to linked.

Like I said, I'm seeing this happen repeatedly, a couple times a week at least. That sucks big time. Support, this needs fixed!

Carl123, thanks for the ideas though!

Click on one linked image and then choose Select > Select All (Cmd/Ctrl+A). Then you can change them all at once. It may take a few seconds for the changes to take effect.

Don't think I understand what you mean. If I click on a linked image on a particular page, then do Select All, it selects all layers on that page. But it doesn't select all images on every page. Is there a way to select all linked images on all pages and change them at once?

Thanks!

Clicking in the Resource Manager and then Select All did it. No need to save to a different file. Just Select All in Resource Manager, then Embed, then Make Linked, and the file size is back to normal.

Thanks all!
