141prod Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Hello, While I was using the Brush Tool, I need to use the symmetry and I found out that the symmetry can't be snaped to anything center of the canvas or anything.I'm not sure if thats a bug or its just a missing featur, but because of that the tool becomes almost useless if you can't operate it properly. NotMyFault Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 Is my understanding correct: you want snapping usable when moving the center point when adjusting symmetry settings (brush tool)? I second your request. On iPad, you can use guides to have a visual help line ant match the position visually. I think the symmetry function is not intended to be pixel perfect. anti-aliasing will be unavoidable if using any number of lines except 2 or 4. If you need pixel perfect results, other methods can be used: Create a pixel layer and mark the center pixel with e.g. a black. In Designer, use symbols. In Photo, use linked pixel layers Power-duplicate them and rotate by 360/„number of lines“ You need to use an odd number of pixels for document width / height These methods have the additional benefit of being non-destructive. You can adjust the base slice any time. 141prod Posted February 25, 2023 Author Posted February 25, 2023 Hello, I think that the solution you are suggesting is not as user friendly. Also I uploaded a video with the thing that I want to achieve. I used both Photoshop and Affinity in the video to show the diffrences in the softwares. 2023-02-25 11-03-56.mkv MACE5cm 1 Quote
141prod Posted February 25, 2023 Author Posted February 25, 2023 Also the canvas that I have created in both softwares are 2560x1440px . MACE5cm 1 Quote
NotMyFault Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 It would be great if you could verbally describe what you want. A video is a nice add-on, but not a replacement for missing textual description. let me try to do this for you (last time): So it seems the issue you observe is the default for one symmetry line is horizontal in Affinity, and you need a vertical line. Again, missing of snapping makes if tedious to rotate the single symmetry line by 90 degree. I agree on this would be a nice new feature for Affinity. The workarounds I gave are for those inpatient users who need a immediate workaround.
