felipe_g Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Hello Can someone tell me why this happens? it happens randomly, and forces you to close the project. You can usually restore the file when you use the "Open Recent" option , but sometimes you can lose hours of work Quote Windows 11 Pro, AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, B550M Aorus Elite MB, 64GB RAM, MSI RTX3060 12GB Affinity Photo V2
MikeTO Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Hi Felipe. This is the worst error message to ever encounter. Usually the 'failed to save" error just means it can't write to the file and you can simply save the document under a new name, but in this case Affinity has determined that the document in memory is corrupted and cannot be saved and must be closed. This is one of the uncommon errors but that doesn't make it feel any better when it happens to you. I've encountered it myself several times but I save very frequently so I've never lost more than a few minutes' work. Serif's advice is to always save to the internal drive, not to a network, cloud, or external drive which should reduce the frequency of this issue. felipe_g Posted February 24, 2023 Author Posted February 24, 2023 Hi it has been happening more and more often, even when not saving to a network. I also save often, but unfortunately sometimes during these saves this pops up with no warning. It would be great if it gave you some kind of option to save elsewhere or version up (sorry, i guess this couldve been asked in the support section) Quote Windows 11 Pro, AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, B550M Aorus Elite MB, 64GB RAM, MSI RTX3060 12GB Affinity Photo V2
GRAFKOM Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 It happens to me every day. I save files on a network drive at the company. I believe this is a bug in Affinity 2 because it never happens in Affinity 1. Something must have gone wrong with Serif when he upgraded to 2.0 Quote

And this is a good point - if you ever encounter this you should immediately quit and restart the application.
